To prevent a system from communicating, or to disconnect it from the phone line, look near the control box for a phone jack. unplugging the phone cord from the jack will remove the alarm from the phone system making it unable to communicate. Note that this will normally cause a trouble, and most systems will beep rather annoyingly once this is done.
