Bypassing will remove one zone from monitoring until either the bypass is removed manually, or the next time the system is disarmed.

Stay mode is a form of bypassing, It automatically bypasses all interior alarms, sometimes it will leave the basement motions armed.

Not all types of zones are bypass able, for example fire alarms, temperature, glass break, or any other 24 hour sensor, may or may not be bypass able. For instructions on how to bypass a zone, see the specific panel manual.
