Beeping

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

There are many things that could make a system beep. Most are basic trouble conditions that the system is trying to make someone aware of. Usually the beeping can be silenced by acknowledging the trouble, but it will beep again if the trouble condition is not restored.

Also, you must make sure that the beeping is coming from the keypad! You will come across customers who don't know the difference between the keypad beeping, or any other strange beeping, for example from a smoke detector, that may not even be hooked up to the alarm system.

To start to troubleshoot, you must know what kind of system the customer has, And refer to the specific guide for that panel.

If this cannot be determined from the account information, you could try asking the customer what the brand name is that is written on the keypad. And most times you can use most guides within a brand to some degree. See: Keypad Pictures
