Instructions for Napco panels are based on the keypad used. This file includes instructions for the Napco GEM-RP8 and GEM-RP8LCD keypads.

ARMING/DISARMING

Away ARMING

1.Check to see that the green 'Status' light is lit.

2.Enter the Arm/Disarm Code, and then press the ON/OFF key (GEM-RP8) or the AWAY key (GEM-RP8LCD).

Note: (GEM-RP8): If you make a mistake entering the code, press RESET key,  enter a correct code, and press the ON/OFF key.

Note: (GEM-RP8LCD): If you make a mistake entering the code, the keypad will display 'INVALID ENTRY, TRY AGAIN'. Re-enter the code immediately.

Stay Arming (Interior Zone Bypass)

This feature must be enabled by the dealer. Bypasses zones designated as Interior Zones.

GEM-RP8

1.Check to see that the green 'Status' light is lit.

2.Enter your Arm/Disarm Code, and then press the ON/OFF button.

3.Before the exit delay expires, press the BYPASS button to bypass any interior zones. The zone light of any bypassed zones will flash slowly.

GEM-RP8LCD

1.Check to see that the green 'Status' light is lit.

2.Enter your Arm/Disarm Code, and then press the STAY button.

DISARMING

Enter your Arm/Disarm Code , then press the ON/OFF button to disarm. The red 'Armed' light will go out.

Note: If you make a mistake entering the code, press RESET button, enter a correct code, and press the ON/OFF button.

GEM-RP8LCD

Enter your Arm/Disarm Code, then press the ENTER button.

Note: If you make a mistake entering the code, the keypad will sound two tones indicating an error. Re-enter your code immediately.

Arming the system with a trouble condition present

1.Press the FUNCTION button followed by the 4 button to view trouble.

2.Press the INTERIOR button to scroll through any additional troubles, or to exit Trouble View Mode when there are no more troubles to display.

3.Enter your Arm/Disarm Code, and then press the ON/OFF button.

If you attempt to arm with a 'SYSTEM TROUBLE' display, the window will display 'CAN’T ARM SYSTEM...PRESS RESET'. If you cannot correct the problem immediately, press RESET to arm in this condition.

BYPASSING

With the system disarmed.

1.Press BYPASS button.

2.Enter the Zone Number of the zone to be bypassed. The bypassed zone's number will flash slowly.

3.Arm the system.

Silencing Alarm / Alarm Memory

1.To silence the system, enter your Arm/Disarm Code, then press the ON/OFF button (GEM-RP8) or the ENTER button (GEM-RP8LCD). The keypad sounder will silence but the zone in alarm will continue to flash (GEM-RP8), or, the window will display 'ALARM MEMORY' followed by the zone(s) violated (GEM-RP8LCD).

2.Press the RESET button to reset this alarm memory.

Silencing Fire Alarms

1.Enter your Arm/Disarm Code, followed by the ON/OFF button. The keypad will silence and 'FIRE' will stop flashing but will still be lit.

2.Press RESET to reset the fire zone.

3.If the fire zone has reset properly 'FIRE' should go out in about 30 seconds. If it does not go out, press RESET again in a few minutes. If it still does not go out, call for service.

1.Press the RESET button to silence the keypad sounder

2.Enter your Arm/Disarm Code and press the ENTER button to turn off the alarm.

3.After the alarm condition is corrected, pressing RESET again will reset the keypad.

4.If the fire zone has reset properly the 'FIRE' icon should go out in about 20 seconds. If it does not go out, press RESET again in a few minutes. If it still does not go out, call for service.

Reset Function

Press the RESET button to reset Fire Zone, clear mis-entered codes, reset alam memory, reset residential smoke detectors.

DOOR CHIME

Pressing the FUNCTION button followed by the 5 button will activate/deactivate the door chime.

1.To enter the Function Menu, press the MENU button.

2.Press MENU repeatedly, until 'ACTIVATE CHIME' is displayed (If the chime mode is already active, the display will read 'DEACTIVATE CHIME').

Note: If you accidentally skip past the ACTIVATE CHIME option, pressing BYPASS will scroll you backward through the options.

3.Press the ENTER button.

4.To exit Function Menu, press the RESET button.

If a problem should occur, the 'SYS TBL' icon will display on the left side of keypad window along with one or more of the following Trouble Descriptions.

If the problem is related to a specific zone or device, the corresponding number will also be indicated.

If a message appears that is not listed below, call for service.

When a system trouble occurs, the keypad can be silenced and the display can be cleared by pressing RESET. The system can then be armed and disarmed as usual.

PROGRAMMING ACCESS CODES

This system can contain a maximum of 8 user codes. User Code 1 is required to program other codes as follows:

Entering the User Program Mode

1.Press the FUNCTION button followed by the 8 button.

2.Enter the User 1 Code, then press the ON/OFF button.

The Armed, Status, and Trouble lights will flash and the keypad will beep 4 times. You are now in User Program Mode. Zones 1 through 8 will light to indicate any user codes currently programmed.

Programming / Reprogramming User Codes

1.After entering User Program Mode, press the User Number (1 - 8) to be programmed. The keypad will beep 2 times, and the corresponding zone light will flash to indicate the user number you are about to program.

2.Enter the new 4-digit User Code. The keypad will beep 4 times.

3.If there are more User Codes to program, return to step 1 above, otherwise, go to Exiting User Program Mode below.

Erasing a User Code

1.After entering User Program Mode, press the User Number (1 - 8) to be erased. The keypad will beep 2 times and the corresponding zone light will flash to indicate the user number you are about to erase.

2.Press the INSTANT button. The zone light will go out to indicate that the code has been erased.

3.If there are more User Codes to erase, return to step 1 above, otherwise, go to Exiting User Program Mode below.

Exiting User Program Mode

When you are done programming or erasing User Code, press the RESET button to exit User Program Mode.

Entering the User Program Mode

1.To enter the Function Menu, press MENU.

2.Skip through the functions by pressing MENU until 'ACTIVATE PROGRAM' is displayed

3.Press ENTER, then enter a valid User Code, then press ENTER again.

4.When 'USER PROG. MODE USERS=....' displays, the system is ready for User Code Programming.

Programming / Reprogramming User Codes

1.After entering User Program Mode, press the User Number (1 - 8) to be programmed. The keypad will beep 2 times.

2.Enter the new 4-digit User Code. The keypad will beep 4 times.

3.If there are more User Codes to program, return to step 1 above, otherwise, go to Exiting User Program Mode below.

Erasing a User Code

1.After entering User Program Mode, press the User Number (1 - 8) to be erased. The keypad will beep 2 times.

2.Press the AWAY button.

3.If there are more User Codes to erase, return to step 1 above, otherwise, go to Exiting User Program Mode below.

Exiting User Program Mode

When you are done programming or erasing User Code, press the RESET button to exit User Program Mode.
